A better you means an updated version of yourself. We all constantly want to grow, improve and be better. How? Here are my 10 steps on ways to improve yourself.

  1. Drink more water:  Water is an essential class of food that is needed to keep the body hydrated. Lack of water in the body causes dehydration, dry and wrinkled skin. The functions and importance of water can not be overemphasized as it aids in digestion, absorption, circulation, transportation of nutrients and maintenance of body temperature. Experts recommend drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water each day to maintain good health.

  2. Be open to learning new things: When you stop learning you stop growing. Learn new skills to develop your potential. If you are bad at cooking, try taking cooking lessons. Don’t know how to use a system? Learn the basics of computer appreciation. Whatever it is that you don’t know, learn how to. No knowledge is a waste, as learning is a never ending experience in life.

  3. Be you: Social media has a way of making one believe that things we see are the way they are and so we wish to be like that. Truth is, no one can be better at being you than you. Stop wishing to be like someone else and be you. Never compare yourself to others and start believing in yourself. Work, play and enjoy each day.

  4. Eat healthy and workout daily:  Include fruits to your diets and make out time to workout daily. Eating healthy and daily workout routines helps one stay fit and healthy.

  5. Drop bad habits: Everyone has a bad habit. Identify your bad habits and get rid of them in order to be better. Bad habits are not just habits that we don’t like but also habits that are detrimental to our health and everyone around us.

  6. Set goals and make plans to achieve them: When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Set weekly, monthly or yearly goals and go all out to achieve them. Setting such goals gives you the drive to want to work beyond your normal capacity and with the right plans you can achieve your goals.

  7. Learn from success and failure stories: Think of great men and women who inspire you, read about them and learn from their stories. Have your mind set that failure isn’t the end but an opportunity to try again. Most great people today failed at some point in their lives but never gave in to failure.

  8. Read always: Books are sources of wisdom. Reading and understanding what you read exposes your memory, boosts your vocabulary, encourages life goals, improves your imagination and more. Invest your time on educative and motivational books.

  9. Help others: Show kindness to people around you. Help people when they need help, be a volunteer and be willing to improve your relationship with others. Volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, fight depression, keep you mentally stimulated and provide a sense of purpose.

  10. Dress properly: Your dress speaks a lot about you. Dressing well makes you feel comfortable, boosts your confidence level. This is an important and good habit to adopt.
